When Tabitha and Philip were planning their wedding, they never anticipated that 2020 would be the year of lockdowns that it has been! But love does conquer all, and after a few hurdles were thrown their way, they decided to just go for it and have a small celebration with close friends and family at Maddybenny. Tabitha was on the search for a venue with a bit of a difference, and it was a through Jenny, a work colleague that she heard about Maddybenny and its lovely gardens and scenery. Jenny also has a business called The Little Red Horse box that does outside catering, and was based in Maddybenny over the summer months providing delicious food and treats for our holiday cottage guests and campers. And just like that, a plan was hatched!!
Tabitha and Philip got married in the Registry office at Coleraine Council’s offices, and then came back with their guests to Maddybenny for the celebrations, food and photos! Jenny and The Little Red Horsebox provided the guests with some delicious finger food, consisting of Pumpkin spiced soup, mini brioche sliders with pulled pork or beef briskets and a selection of mini meringues, tiramisu and strawberry shortcakes to finish. The guests enjoyed this in the front garden, in our beautiful wooden permanent gazebo, and an additional marquee we put up to allow guests enough room to social distance. Guests also enjoyed a few glasses of champagne, toasted marshmallows over the fire pits and got some beautiful photos taken in the Garden.
Then it was time for Tabitha and Philip to sneak off with their photographer, Simon Alleyne from Living Witness Weddings, to get some pictures of the couple alone around the farm grounds, and the images they got are stunning! Not hard when Tabitha and Philip are the beautiful couple they are, and they have a super talented photographer to work with, but Maddybenny played a blinder in providing an excellent setting for these special pictures! It was one of those stunning Autumn days and the leaves in the gardens added a gorgeous dash of orange and red tones to compliment Tabitha’s beautiful grey silk dress. The couple ventured up the “Winding Lane” and got more fab photos along the tree lined lane and rocky cliff before returning to their front garden for cupcakes and more merriment!
This wedding was very special to us and we were so happy to help a couple make their dream day a reality, and enable everyone to have fun whilst adhering to all the new guidelines in place.
This was however, not the first wedding Maddybenny has hosted… in 2016, our daughter Tegan married her husband Cian in a Marquee provide by Eventco Marquees in our Cottage Field with 200 guests in attendance. Again the grounds around Maddybenny provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding photos, and we were able to supply accommodation for over 70 of their guests in our holiday cottages!
It was fantastic having so many family members and friends staying on site, the celebrations could continue over the weekend!
We really enjoyed helping Tabitha and Philip make their celebration a special one, and we would love to do it all over again! If any couples are thinking of planning something a little different for their big day and would like to get in touch, we would be delighted to hear from you!
